Your journey begins at the lake port in Ksamil, where you’ll meet your local guide and captain. You’ll board a traditional-style mussel boat—his pride and joy—and set off across the calm, protected waters of Lake Butrint.

As you cruise, your guide explains in perfect English how mussels are grown and harvested in this unique ecosystem. The lake is rich with birds and fish, and the scenery is untouched—featuring only local fishermen using handlines and small mussel shacks along the shoreline.
